Akinori Niimi joined Shibusawa & Company in 2008 and spun out AJIA Inc. in 2010 to advise companies across industries on international expansion. From 2011 to 2024, he served as Director for India at a Singapore-based private equity fund affiliated with leading Japanese institutions. Between 2018 and 2023, he represented Shapoorji Pallonji Group companies in Japan, building partnerships for landmark infrastructure and renewable energy projects across India and the Middle East. Since 2015, Niimi has been Director (Japan) at Horasis, a Zurich-based global think tank, where he helped organize its first Asia meeting in Bangkok (2016) and its inaugural Japan meeting in Kitakyushu (2021). After completing an exchange program at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), he earned a Master’s degree in Finance and Investments (cum laude) from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University.
